July 26, 18 — Calgary based FortisAlberta Inc. today received Novinium’s Environmental Stewardship award at its offices in Calgary, Canada. Novinium, a provider of electrical cable rejuvenation for power utilities, presents this award to select power utilities that meet specific criteria that shows their commitment to the environment. This is the second year in a row that FortisAlberta Inc. has won the Environmental Stewardship award. FortisAlberta is receiving this award based on the number of feet of electrical cable they rejuvenated in 2017 and the resulting CO2 mitigation from electrical cable rejuvenation. Rejuvenating existing electrical cable allows cable to be recycled in place, eliminating the waste created by otherwise abandoning and replacing failing electrical cable. In 2017, FortisAlberta rejuvenated more than 82,000 meters of underground power cables mitigating 934 metric tons of CO2 that would have otherwise been released into the environment.

“We are pleased to partner with FortisAlberta as they exemplify the mission to rehabilitate the electrical industry’s aging infrastructure at a fraction of the  cost of replacement and to do so in a way that is safer and more environmentally friendly than alternatives,” says Glen Bertini, CEO of Novinium. “This award recognizes the commitment by FortisAlberta to choose a solution that is good for the planet and their clients.”
